"I have just completed a 12 months term as Consultant Anaesthetist in North Queensland and enjoyed it immensely. I have learnt more about myself and my profession in the last 12 months than in the previous 15 years." "My wife and I have just completed a 12 month assignment in New Zealand. We arrived from Miami, FL and have enjoyed every minute of it - we have asked IMR to extend our current assignment for a further 12 months and start looking for another assignment after that!."

Anaesthetics
Anaesthetics (anaesthesiology) in Australia or New Zealand can be a very challenging and fascinating experience. As with anaesthetics in other westernised countries, anaesthetists cover theatre anaesthesia, pain clinics and intensive care units.
There has been a huge increase in the demand for anaesthetists in the last five years in Australia and New Zealand and this has been recognised by both the Federal Government and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. This has resulted in an increase in the number of trainees being accepted for anaesthetic training but the number required still falls short of the number of anaesthetists needed.
IMR has preferred supplier status with many hospitals in both Australia and New Zealand and so can offer anaesthetists the widest choice of positions available. In addition, IMR representatives have detailed knowledge about your specialty and can offer advice on whether you would like to practice in a hospital which offers opportunities with or without:
- General Anaesthesia
- Paediatric Anaesthesia
- Obstetric Anaesthesia
- Cardiac Anaesthesia
- Neuro-Anaesthesia
- ICU cover
- Pain management clinics
